”IKEDA Manabu : The Pen - Condensed Universe “ at the Saga Prefectural Art Museum

IKEDA Manabu's first ever museum retrospective exhibition "IKEDA Manabu: The Pen - Condensed Universe - " opens today at the Saga Prefectural Art Museum.

Featuring approximately 120 works, the show will also be the Japanese premiere of Ikeda’s newest and largest-ever piece “Rebirth”, which took him over three years to complete while undertaking a residency at the Chazen Museum of Art in Madison, Wisconsin.

Friday 20 January - Monday 20 March (a public holiday)
09:30 - 18:00 (open until 20:00 on 1/27, 2/17 and 3/10)
Closed on Mondays (however, open on Monday 3/20)
Admission: regular 1,200 yen, high school students and younger have free admission
Venue: The Saga Prefectural Art Museum

After closing in Saga, the exhibition will tour to the following museum venues:
1. 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, 8 April - 9 July
2. Nihombashi Takashimaya, Tokyo, 27 September - 9 October

Lecture Event:
A special commemorative lecture in English will be given by the Director of the Chazen Museum of Art, Dr. Russell Panczenko, on Saturday 21st January at the Saga Prefectural Art Museum. The event will take place between 13:30 and 15:00, and is free of charge (with a ticket for the exhibition).

An extensive programme of additional lectures and panel discussions in Japanese will also be held during the exhibition at the Saga Prefectural Art Museum. For further details about all of these (in Japanese), please see the link below.
