In conjunction IKEDA Manabu’s solo exhibition “The Pen – Condensed Universe – ” held at Nihonbashi Takashimaya, Tokyo, from Wednesday 27th September, a commemorative discussion event will be held between Ikeda and Dr. Russell Panczenko (Director Emeritus, the Chazen Museum of Art).
Ikeda’s major work “Rebirth” was created at the Chazen Museum of Art in Wisconsin, USA, over the course of three years and three months.
Dr. Panczenko will address the work’s creation process and art historical elements that may be seen to be explored within its composition, forming part of the appeal of of this major work, the largest in Ikeda’s practice to date. He will then be joined onstage by Ikeda himself, and the two will discuss various aspects of the work. Interpretation in Japanese and English will be provided.
