This upcoming exhibition features new portraits of six-year-old children by photographer Matsukage, who was in charge of photographing various events throughout the year for the graduation album of his daughter’s nursery. The artist set up a temporary studio in Yokohama “STUDIO 1540,” as his last effort to take portraits of the children, and held the first exhibition there.
As a tribute to Kishin Shinoyama, who passed away in January this year, the exhibition uses the format of the covers and posters photographed by Shinoyama for GORO (published by Shogakukan), a representative gravure magazine from the 1980s, to capture lively and sparkling images of the children, just like idols of the past.
